Fountain, Příbor [ Fountain ]

Příbor, Kašna
S. Freud's Square, Příbor

The original stone fountain probably stood in the square as early as the first half of the 16th century. In 1813, the fountain was supplemented with a statue of St Zacharias. In the late 1899, the fountain was pulled down due to a water-supply duct construction and replaced by a cast-iron fountain. In December of 1899, the statue of St Zacharias was relocated behind the Parish Church. The stones of the fountain were deposited behind the Church of St Valentine and, later (in 1916), used to build a war memorial in front of the Sokol Hall. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary, the fountain was restored to its original appearance, including a statue of antique girl Hygie and a decorative rosette. A ceremonial recommissioning of the fountain took place within the celebration of the Day of the Town of Příbor on September 4th, 1999.
